Police in stab vests were present late evening on Saturday after (unconfirmed) reports of a stabbing.

There was fisty cuffs between two (apparent) wife swapping couples on Friday night, and some youngsters on auto's were riding around the campsite until they were told by the stewards to stop, but I don't think this is just an isolated occurrance at Mersea Rally. (Well, maybe the wife swapping couples.....!!!).

I enjoyed it, and also enjoyed the IoW this year. If you go along with a view to enjoying yourself and maybe not completely relying on being entertained all weekend, then I've found you usually have a good time???

Thanks for the feedback Garbo.

There were two incidents over the weekend. One was a bit of afters from a previous incident a year ago. Why bring your domestic issues to our rally? The second incident was some one finding about the camp site in a reckless manner, and when he was confronted things turned nasty very quickly.

The police impounded the scooter involved in the incident, so this is a route that might lead to the arrest of the git who started the incident, especially as it was his mate's scooter and getting your scooter impounded can test a friendship. I suspect that there will be a knock on his door in due course.

I agree that security should address any riding on site, and I certainly had words with plenty of riders who were ignoring the requirement to NOT ride on site, but it is very difficult to put a stop to this kind of thing. We have already written to our security firm to ask them to address these issues, (and to ensure all wristbands are checked upon entry to any of the rooms during the evening events).

However, let's concentrate on the good points. Smoove and Turrell were fantastic on Saturday night and 2500 people went home having had a great weekend.

It was my 1st mersea rally ,i witnessed one guy flat out in the soul room on fri night, another punch up resulting in a guy getting a few kicks to his head while on the deck by the the shower blocks again on fri night...some of the girls with us were hassaled by locals that wouldnt take no for an answer and then started giving it all the eyes to one of the blokes with one of the girls ,so much so we left and missed most of king hammond :(........ sat during the day was great entertainment plenty of stalls ,good custom show and a chilled out atmosphere....Then late afternoon sat a group of nippers on 2 mopeds,2 or 3 trials bikes and a black bike with a side car started doing burnouts ( one slip with the front brake and you have a bike flying around into god knows what) .....someone did have word with the group involved in the incident about an hour before hand (with quite a few big lads just a few yards away) but as soon as he'd walked away a couple of them just did more burn outs for longer......basically these lads had nothing to with the scooter scene and didn't give a toss ....sat night was ok still to many people with staffy type dogs wandering around....... but all told dvlc couldnt really do much more, to be honest it was still a great rally but security definately needs looking at....that said i think next year we will be mob handed just incase ...shame to have to go back the dark days of the 80's ...
