Technical help for Series one, two and three Lambrettas. Models include the Li, Li Special, TV, SX, GP, Serveta and API/SIL models

Has anyone fitted these that can offer an opinion: are they worth using - do they really make a difference?
I've got a standard Li150 Special & am thinking about adding dampers to help improve handling & braking etc...
Any comment gratefully received.

Fitting dampers is worth it. Using welded on upper brackets is best but providing you can get the clamp on type to fit properly no reason why not. Clamp on kits were available long before the Indians fitted them as standard.
Paul.

Thanks for the quick reply Paul - I was wondering if the clamps would be a bugger to fit properly.
Guess I might as well do it properly & weld the brackets on.

I remember my mate had terrible trouble with clamp on types back when they were new, he tried everything from wedging, araldite (the stories that could be told of Araldite), I think he had a local firm drill and tap a couple threads and he put some studs in but they didn't last well and he gave up in the end. One of the wacky things I do remember was he tried converting a motorbike fork brace clamp but the thing would shift on a pothole and pull him into a ditch.

Nor him I think but then he was the bodge artist of them all, he turned his metal lunchbox into an exhaust box rather than buy one for his LD he had lol

I had bolt on brackets, and now I have weld ons and I don't notice any difference between the two. Dampers are definitely worth fitting imho

I had a pair of the LTH brackets one of them snapped after about 12 months possibly due to aluminium they are made out of being less flexible than steel.
