Is a series 2 rear brake cable the same length as the front cable? If not, Could I use a clutch or gear cable?

Rear brake cables are thicker than front brake ones so none of the other lambretta cables will replace it. I have wondered why it needs to be so heavy compared to the front brake probably because you can put so much more pressure on it.

If your going to replace the cable then I would suggest you go for the MBD one with the threaded end attached to the cable.
So much better than the standard.

Would agree with the above about the threaded type, but buy direct from the originator of this type of cable - he can offer the 2 sizes of inner and it comes with a comprehensive fitting instruction..... PM LCGB member Martin "Knowledge" Leech (Jetset Oily Rag)#

Not 100% certain but I think Martin has stopped doing these. He does keep finding a few in the depths of his garage though so maybe worthwhile pm'ing him. I have a spare one if you would like to PM me.

Don't worry guys, I have stopped making and selling the brake cables. Mine were top quality and I never had one returned to me as broken or unusable; a fact that I am very proud of. However, in the end there wasn't enough margin in it for me.
I might come back to the market one day soon, and I have a new product in mind too, but not just yet.
Thanks for the kind words, guys
