TV3 Insurance?

My TV3 will shortly need registering.

I hope to have an MoT this week and then to DVLA to get the 1964 registration.

I understand I need insurance cover to go with the MoT/Application forms, so looking for TPF&T cover just for this admin purpose.

It is my intent to sell this TV after registration.

I have a £71 quote from Bennetts, and have seen a 30 day cover from The Bike Insurer.
I need to call Hagerty ( I have my classic car with them), but are there any others you all use please?

Ive used TR Youngs for the last 4 years and before that I was with FJ

£71 for TPF&T seems expensive to me

I've always used Carol Nash on a classic policy. Got 3 scoots insured for less than £100 fully comp but just check as I think the requirement to have insurance just to register the scoot has been relaxed for mainland Uk. Although if it probably makes sense to get it insured so at least you can ride it straight away once you get the reg number.

Won't go to FJames as they turned the knife on me a few years back and left me in the lurch.

I cannot claim any motorcycle NCB (they all specifically ask this question) so will be why the numbers are high.

So far my little 9 bhp TV3 is 30% the cost to insure my 240 bhp/ton classic Porsche 911 with agreed value of £60,000!

I'm with TR Youngs,but as "bike grim" says I dont think that insurance is needed for registering a vehicle.There are some on this forum who have registered a scooter without insurance.

On the assumption that the TV will pass its MoT tomorrow I need to steel myself for the registration process.
With the TV very nick-able now TPF&T cover will be a good thing to have even if I don't need it for the registration. I guess Agreed Value would be wise too, but I hope it will sell quickly.

I hope also to find a clear procedure to follow, 'We need this and this form and you get a number'.

Can it be that simple.

When I registered a series 2 at the start of this year it was a nightmare.I got my application refused and returned twice before eventually getting the name of someone who new what he was doing.His name is -

He is one of the supervisors.

I insured my LI before it was registered using the frame number. Once I had the registration I informed the insurer. It was easy and I also used Carole Nash (on recommendation), classic policy, Fully Comp, not expensive at all .
It took a ten minute phone call. DVLA wasn't a problem either, it took a week or so.

You cant register on line,you have to do it all via post.

Why do you have to insure it? If you take it on a trailer for its MOT then there is no need. You don't need insurance to register or MOT it.

The on-line thing doesn't work in my limited experience. A vintage/classic bike is a bit specialised so I'd recommend calling them, or any other insurer, direct.
is it not covered by the M.O.T.er now as you have passed it to them? I wouldn't worry too much.

Good to know, but I'll insure it as it will soon be worth a few shillings now it is all but done. Sod's law we will be broken into and it gets nicked if it is not covered.

Scooter now with Reedspeed for testing tomorrow....spanners crossed for a pass.

just done my 2nd rebuild and both sold....got another li125 to completely do.......on with a nice red italian gp150 for meeeeeeeeeeeeee
and got another italian gp150 to do.....so i have definetly got the love back after an exile period from 1975
