LT Coil

On the way up a had a good blat pulled over for ten minutes then it wouldn't start
Usually checks changed cd,i cap,lead then stator.
Fired up and off I went .
Next morning it's dead again .
Multi meter out no resistance . Another stator in. Thanks Sean
On the way home after 400 miles an the stator I hole my piston.
Got the crank out to check over. Lit coil wrapping is toasty brown
Wasn't that colour when it went in.
Question is am I just plain unlucky or is there something I should be looking for.

What does the resistance read like? Must say I've notices the paper wrapping being a bit brittle and brown but I guess it could just be normal but it shouldn't get that hot I wouldn't think

I think I'm reading this right, LT coil wrapping is brown. They are usually a sort of yellowish colour if I remember right?
If it's looking cooked then the LT coil is getting overloaded by something, maybe a dying CDI or a short to earth somewhere.
I had a problem a few years ago with an ignition switch that was conducting ever so slightly across the contacts which was putting extra load on my LT coil, thus cooking it. I don't remember it being discoloured though. I disconnected the switch until I got chance to put a new one in, which just so happened to be this year when I did the DC conversion. Nowt like leaving things!
I would try checking the resistance of the LT coil to see if it is reading below 500 ohms and take it from there.

comfirms my thoughts that theres two much demand on the lt coil.
I,ll test loom wire to earth with ignition on.

Checked out the loom wire and ignition all as should be.
all three stators I used that weekend are reading roughly 430.
