Beautifully prepped scoot.

That carb looks horribly exposed, particularly through fords!

I'd always thought the criteria for these events was for twin shock rear suspension so as to eliminate all the modern machines. Wonder how the Vega gets around this?

criteria was only for pre 1980 bikes, and many many lambrettas have entered this trial over the years.....and the vega managed fine thru this (westgate ford) and did complete the 120 mile route..but agree the carb/filter is exposed and tony is addressing this i believe

Does anyone know what rear shock is fitted. I need one for my Vega and would prefer an improvement to the Casa standard type that's available?

yeh its a BGM PRO rear shocker....and not cheap

Thanks George. I presume a modified series 3 with different shock eye bushes or do they make specific Vega one?

I agree with Noddabodder, this is a well prepped machine.

This is the first time I've seen a vapor speedo fitted to a scooter where it looks right. The rear wheel appears to be a tubeless item, and I didn't know they made them for Vegas, or this this a clever hub-conversion?

The extra strengthener in the handlebars is cool, as is the reed valve conversion and suspension upgrades.

Love it.

That is really nice and well thought out to cope with the rigours of this event (I'm guessing it's a 125?). Having been through that ford myself, it's not too bad and the carb is in a reasonable position to avoid any problems. Was this the only scooter that took part this year?

I entered in 2012 but couldn't do it (you have to enter 9 months in advance) although I did give my place up to a Vega. I then built a cutdown lammy to do it the following year, only to then sell it 3 months beforehand

All was not lost, however, I did complete (selective stages) of the 2013 event. I didn't want to damage any beloved Lambretta machinery though:

storkfoot its a 140cc ...yes the only scooter, joey was entered to but couldnt make it

Thanks, George. I've never ridden a Vega, let alone a 140. But, I know they are light and so, if it's geared right and torquey, such a scoot may be just the ticket for this event. I've seen posts from others who have done it on standard 75cc Vegas saying that they felt underpowered.

It would be really interesting to read an article on the Vega and on the event itself

I'm on the mailing list for this so maybe tempted to put in for it again next year, provided a few other scooterists put in too

Uses an Indian SIL sunny (cento variant) rear hub - same rims as S1/2/3.
