Re-Framing, legitimately

Postby Dicky » Thu Oct 16, 2025 1:08 pm

Hi all. Not sure if Im posting this in the right place so sorry if not.

Scenario - Series 3 LI 125. V5 all in order and in my name. - had it years. Frame is shot. Looking into potential to reframe this using all existing parts and retain original registration number

As I see it currently (since DVLA changes) this appears to be possible by completing a DVLA "Vehicle Parts Statement" - V627/1. Anyone got any experience of this. any pitfalls? (am I deluded thinking it will be straightforward!)

I'm assuming I complete sections A and B.

It appears as though you do the build and then make the application. Clearly a lot of work if you get knocked back so hoping im not misunderstanding this!

I have no knowledge or experience of V627/1 so can't help you there. I really have no idea how easy or hard it may be.

Is your existing reg' transferable? If so you could register the new frame and then do a transfer.

Has the new frame got a clear and legitimate frame number?

Is the old frame reg' No precious to you? If not it may be easier just to reg' the new one.

Best of luck. I might read up on V627/1 when I get time.

Rich'

Just had an afterthought. Couldn't Dean Stradling repair your old frame, so long as the numbers are still good (not that that really matters too much though as it's already registered.
