exhaust repacking

Hi,i need to repack the baffle wadding,will I just drill the rivets,clean out,and repack? EG, how much wadding,loose stuff?,or the flat roll stuff? or any tips.Thanks PS its a sterling pipe

I use the roll fribre stuff.
A lot of texts say roll it as tight as possible but I have found that doing that tends to make it clog up quicker right around the layer next to the perforated steel tube so it needs re-doing in a few months.
The last one I did I simply cut off the first bit that was coked up and stuck it back in - works fine.

Ive always wrapped the stinger first with wire wool then the sheet wadding stops it cokeing up so fast

I just done one with loft roll, not very tight. Quietest can I,ve ever had.
just got to see howvlong it lasts?

As above, use the roll, not the loose stuff and don't over stuff.
