Quiet Exhaust

I’m looking for suggestions on a quiet pipe if anything exists?

I have a GT186 motor in my S2, dynoed at 15hp by Shiny Red and runs well. I have a Ron Moss Avanti pipe on it complete with end can. Trouble is, it’s really noisy. Just sounds like it’s got no baffles in it. Me and the Missus use it as holiday transport on the back of our camper and it gets the curtains twitching and the dogs barking on sites! In fact I’ve started pushing it off site now before starting it as I get a bit more ‘spatially aware’ in my middle age.

So I’m wondering if there’s a pipe out there that will tone it down to somewhere near normal Lambretta noise but without strangling the performance? There’s about 28 stone of us together with a bit of baggage so I don’t want to sacrifice power any more than I have to. I remember when I bought the Avanti pipe I was warned off the BGM Clubman type pipes being told the tailpipe was restrictive, is this still the case? It was four or five years ago now.

Alternatively, although a bit more of a stretch might end up being to get a large block (200+) standard ish motor built I suppose and sell on the GT186 if I can’t achieve what I need from it.

Thanks for any tips.

hi
My GT186 has BGM V4 and makes comparable power , delivered relatively smoothly. Exhaust noise is acceptable

Have you re packed the end can? The wadding/packing doesn't last forever, it gets blown out, saturated with oil and carbon all leading to more noise and a lowering of power. You can get the wadding on ebay for about a 10er and is easy enough to do depending on the assembly of the end can.
