I'm considering rebuilding my current 150 engine with the above.

why not consider RB20?

That's right. Have some empathy. When you get to my age it don't take much to confuse me.
There is so much choice these days when buying Lambretta stuff. Unlike the choice available in Tesco at the moment. ( other supermarkets available)

The RB20 is cracking kit if set up correctly but does require a specific crank and pipe so limits your options.

And so does the quatrinni more so in the exhaust department

i rode a Quattrini equipped with a Gori GP50 the other day, only a couple of miles, but i was really impressed.

it was very ridable, but took off when you opened it up.
I'm not in a position to compare with SS200 and RB20 as I've ridden neither. Nor can I comment on ownership in general, but it was a really nice ride.

Never ridden a Casa or an RB but I’ve got a Quattrini 218 and like it a lot. If you are on FB there is a Quattrini riders page you can join (answer the 2 questions or you won’t get access) and get good info

i have a quattrini, ive done about 4000 miles on it and smiled every minute im on it , tsr pipe with slight mod to fit and torquey as hell but get it on the pipe and it flies .

Cheers. I'm still undecided. I am considering a complete RB 250 engine. I had a quote to have a quattrini conversion done to mine. About £3,000
I dont have to pay a hell of a lot more and I can buy a RB250 complete. That way I get a spare engine.
Casa ss200 is by far the cheapest option.

It seems you still need to decide what you want from an engine. Some of the options you have mentioned are quite different from each other. You appear to be assuming that an RB250 is better than any small block kit full stop. It may well be but if you aren’t sure what you require from an engine then how can it be better? Some big cc motors are pain to ride at town speeds but a dream on the fast A roads. Some big cc motors are also very thirsty at whatever speeds you ride but then again a rip snorting Casa 200 probably isn’t the most economical. Do you want a torquey general use scooter that you can just jump on and go shopping or to the seaside or do you want to spend time in the fast lane on the M1? You can actually still achieve 225cc with a small block engine if you use a long stroke crank. There are 225 Quattrini engines about built on original 150 cases that are very torquey using clubman exhausts and there are 210 cc motors with high revving pipes that are true 90mph machines. This conundrum is why a lot of lambretta enthusiasts have 3 or more. Whilst it not easy at the moment the best way is to speak to people who use different engines and see what makes them tick. What have you ridden in the past?

I currently have an early Imola set up with 28mm dellorto, revvy expansion and li 150 box 16- 46 sprockets. It just don't do it for me.
I prevoiusly had a MB TS1 230 some years ago. That was set up with 32mm VHSA carb and JL4 pipe. That was great. It went pretty well around town, but really came to life when it hit the powerband.
What I really want is something that pulls well low down with plenty of torque, but does not run out of power when I want to wind it up.
I want something that will make me grin like an idiot. I probably wont be doing lots of long runs.

I really appreciate all the replies. There is so much to choose from these days it's easy to make a big expensive mistake.
I have currently had quotes for the following-

Casa ss200 in my current small block. Current bottom end should be ok. £1500 ish with exhaust.
Quattrini conversion on my current small block £3500 ish
Or Complete RB225 or 250 engine for just over £4000

Well rule out the casa and the rb as they needs revs too get the most out of them, the quatrinni seems ideal but obviously more expensive.

You keep saying "Quattrini covnvertion" like there's more to do than with any other kit as far as I see it there's no more to fitting a Quattrini to fitting any other high powered kit

With the Quattrini I need to have a new crank which takes the price up.
The casa can use my existing crank. (AF race)
