Self closing throttles are an MOT requirment only for motorcycles or scooters with indicators.

You are probably right. So, my best guesstimate is that 90+% of ‘us’ still need self closing throttles for an MOT.

Why do I get this sinking feeling that there is an expression that involves the words ‘clutching’ & ‘straws’ that seems appropriate?

Every day is a school day. Keep an open mind and never be afraid to challenge or think outside the box. That was how we finally all came to accept that the earth was round and not flat.
My throttle self closes and that's how I like it.

Ride Safe All. See you somewhere.

Regarding fitting your stand spring i find easiest way especially with a new spring is to unbolt the stand connect spring then rebolt to frame. The stand leg gives you leverage to pull spring when doing this. Obviously this is less hassle if your rear foot boards qre already off.

It's easy if you use a throttle that stays open at any given revs, just switch off the ignition and at that precise moment de-clutch.

Already on this forum, there has been some debate about self closing throttles. I remain in the camp that prefers ‘foolproof’

As for verification of the ‘preferred’ technique of plug-chops, it took me all of two seconds to find this:

Apart from the engine revs, I would reason verification enough for me.... ;)[/quote

I said, dismissive and self righteous because in reply to my message, which you have quoted, you gave me this answer,it says to me "I am right and your wrong".If I have got this wrong, then I apologize.

With my apologies to this Forum & concern for something that I have not tried to escalate, I feel it necessary to try & clarify some things.

In my opinion, non self closing throttles can serve a very useful function, for various reasons.

They are not my preference, again, for various reasons, but that doesn’t make me dismissive.

Self righteous is a bit trickier, in my opinion, to reason out without being patronising or crass.

My own understanding is that being self righteous may be an opinion or feeling expressed but characterized by a certainty, especially an unfounded one, that one is totally correct or morally superior.

Sorry, but I don’t think that I have done that in the debate that we are involved in.

By all means check the thread & you might concur that you added comments to what I’d advised.

Because I didn’t agree with your comments, you felt it appropriate to then make additional remarks, including those on my manner.

I’m not upset by anything said, but I think it’s a shame that you might be.

I would sooner try & be constructive toward this Forum in offering what I hope to be sound advice, considering other contributor’s advice & so on.

I have not attempted to really cause conflict & would sooner stop contributing to the Forum completely, rather than fall into the trap of it being simply a public arena for those members intent upon niggling each other.
