The float hinge pin on my carb is loose. It doesn't come completely out though as it will hit the side of the bowl however it should be fixed into the hole by way of the knurled part of the pin. Ive bought a new pin but it's still loose.
I could shorted the pin on the opposite end slightly so that the knurled part pushes further into the hole or alternately make the hole smaller by centre punching near the hole to push the metal over
Has anyone else had this problem?

I’ve had them with the float pin is pretty loose yes, but once you put the float bowl back on the pin can’t go anywhere.

Hello all,
I’ve got an unusual problem with petrol running out of the carb via the main jet. I fitted a new needle but, when I turned fuel back on the same thing happened. It stopped when I tapped the carb body.
I then ran the scoot with the fuel tap off until it ran out. When I turned fuel back on it poured out again and the only way to stop it was tap the carb. I decided to leave fuel on over night and nothing on floor.
Anyone else had this weird problem?

Hi Pete, a belated welcome . I'm certainly no expert with carbs but your problem points towards an issue with the float sticking. That would explain the tapping of the carb stopping the overflow. Carb needs stripping, checking float working properly and rebuilding

I’m still stumbling about the forum and couldn’t find a way to start new thread. I’ll look closer next time.
But, I’ve done as suggested by yourself two or three times. All I could find was that the position of the float seemed high with very little left to apply load on the needle and seat. I bought new needle and the float was now much better and in line/level with the carb body, bingo I thought.
Put carb back on and all good until I absentmindedly started up with fuel off, when I did turn fuel on that’s when fuel was rising up through the atomiser and out of the throat. I tutted and shook my head, it stopped when I tapped carb body. I started up with fuel turned off. Killed engine, turned fuel back on and same thing happened. This was when carb came off again, twice and stripped. All seemed ok. Replace carb tapped body to stop fuel leak, no fuel leaks as long as I don’t allow carb to empty. It’s strange, but looks like there is no answer.
