Oil Colour?

Hi, I changed my oil this afternoon and was surprised by the colour of it. :?:
It was more gray in colour rather than a dirty black.
Ive only had it in a year and done less than 500 miles.
Is this anything to worry about?

Was your oil drain plug furry?

Any visible bits of alloy in it?

Might be worth having the side case off and looking at the chain adjustment.

Cheers,
the drain plug wasnt furry and there were no visible bits of alloy in it.

Id think this personally. However, for completeness, when you changed it last time what work had you also done? anything recent?

As said, I would err on the side of caution and check the old oil for bits, including running a magnet through the oil and see if there's much in the way of filings when you pull it out again, do not rely on the drain plug!

Did it look like this?

That's about 800 miles on Putolene SAE90. I thought it looked a funny colour but that's how it always looks when used on mine.

Yes a similar colour to that.
I have topped it up with new Rock oil.
I think I will leave it and see what happens
cheers
