Posted: Thu Jan 28, 2016 11:09 pmIt is a long time since I wired-up a HT coil on a points system (I assume this is what you have), but my recollection is that if you wire them up the wrong way, the spark voltage is reduced by 15%. In other words, if it does start, try swapping the wires.

Posted: Fri Jan 29, 2016 4:20 pmHopefully your coil has terminals marked with 1 & 15. I've only ever seen one Lambretta sized coil with no designations & suspect that to be from a Fiat 6 volt car. I just found it again in my garage....
Earth to 1 & the feed to 15 regardless of the polarity of the rest of the electrical system.
