gear box shimming question, which shim
Posted: Fri May 15, 2026 11:51 amI have replaced the rear hub bearing (worn bearing) and after rebuilding the gearbox the existing 2.2mm shim is too tight. it won't turn, and I can not get a feeler gauge under. The biggest shim I have in my collection under 2.2mm is 1.7mm which is giving a feeler gauge reading of 0.40mm which is above the 0.30mm. Can someone advise an ideal size of shim to buy. Thanks
