Recent Acquisition TV175

It came with Irish log book and it had been exported to Ireland from the midlands in the 1970's and according to the guy I bought it from it had been brought back to the UK and been for sale in the south of England last year and also in Manchester in the last few months as various owners had attempted to get the old number unsuccessfully. The last person who attempted it sent the original UK tax discs as evidence of the old number which the DVLA wouldn't return to him. The DVLA wouldn't reallocate the original 1961 UK number and said it had to be re registered with an age related number.

At some point the engine had been removed and in its place was a 200 lump which was a shame but it didn't bother me too much. It's been painted and I like the colour and was originally shown as Biege (presume Cream) on the logbook. I checked it over, rode it and bought it, probably a little bit cheaper because it didn't have the original TV engine.

A week or so later I saw a TV/2 engine casing for sale on FB with the first 3 digits the same as the engine number on the Irish log book and the last 3 digits covered up on the pic. As it was reasonably local to me I said I'd have it went to have a look. ... turns out it's THE actual missing engine with perfect numbers matching the Irish logbook !!

I bought it, did the frame and engine number rubbings, got a fresh dating certificate from Rich Oswald (thanks for quick turnaround) and have now MOT'd and registered the scooter with age related number with the original engine number shown on the new V5. Pure luck ..I am going to rebuild the TV engine and swap it over at some point. Been for a ride today and it's a nice scooter all round and happy to have reunited the scooter with its original lump

It now looks like this as I changed a few bits including the wheels, tyres and seat.
