Had the opportunity to ride one of the two remaining SX twin prototypes at Bridlington yesterday! This one has been conservatively restored by The lads at Rimini Lambretta centre for Vittorio Tessera.

Once in a lifetime opportunity for me!

Thanks got to Dean!

Incredibly smooth!

I rode a targa twin straight after for the first time and although equally smooth it was hugely powerful by comparison!

Did anyone manage to talk Dean into taking a mould off that legshiled toolbox while it was off?

A lovely sound, when it was started up at the back of the Spa.

Hmmmmmmmm

Lucky man ......is that rust down the middle of the legshields? ...Also has that got the uprated front disc? If so any better?

Afandy wrote:is that rust down the middle of the legshields? No its a mixture of glue and foam, I think some form of gauges were once mounted there..

It just feels like a very effective but smooth cable operated brake, ( a good positive feel to the lever), I feel sometimes a hydraulic disc can feel a bit harsh, this cable one isn't by any means..

I also had the opportunity to ride the twin yesterday when Dean dropped off my restored GP.
As Kirk has said, smooth ride compared to a normal scoot.

The disc brake is entirely different! It had a fixed disc and floating pads! I had a good look at it at Rimini in the summer during the restoration! It works really effectively and smoothly! I would suggest it would be a very good part if this design remanufactured to a high original spec!

The brown stuff is like a foam rubber residue! No one knows what it's from but Vittorio wanted it leaving as it's been there since it was rediscovered!

Had a look over this in detail and looked very much like something about to go into production. Usually prototypes will have various unfinished/handmade parts but even the cowlings looked pressed. Easily the most interesting machine at Bridlington. Very lucky to have a blast on it Craig 8-)

Ps- the brown foam looked as if something had been laid on the legshields for a very long time and also had a glue like substance on the toolbox door.
The blue on the engine casing is engineers blue.

I thought maybe an inline spare wheel had been stuck in there at some time maybe prior to the legshield toolbox???

Dean (RLC) Thinks the foam with glue was whats left from the mounting of some sort of gauges..??

Did either of the twin prototypes have side panels?

Dont think so! Certainly not this one anyway!

The rear footboards are shorter so the sidepanels would have to be modified too!
