Thanks bondy.

I'm planning on Mallory Bernie so I maybe in touch thanks.

Here's a couple more pics out in the light , you can see how different the routing of the pipe is compared to say a standard road pipe.

Thanks , I'll need it

Thought I 'd have a crack at making a new airscoop as the one that came with the motor was a bit battered. Still doing it's job but I thought I'd try to improve.

Image

I loant a fiberglass one to copy off or get an idea from. Thought I'd have a go in ally.

Image

I 1st folded up the sides.
Image

Then cut and folded the back up. Putting a couple of bolts in to hold in place.
Image
Image

A bit more cutting and shutting but it's taking shape.

Image

And fitted into place. It's getting there.

Thanks lee.

Just fitted a TTO tacho and runtime gauge. Also a choke lever close to hand. Just in case things end up in the danger zone.

Here's the dyno graph. The blue line is where I had it. The red is where it ended up. I wasn't that far out considering I couldn't really get out on the road that much with it being a race bike. The red is jetted on the safe side so hopefully not to nip it up.

Bearing in mind this is a 205 cc it's quite good.

Decided to bolt this together as the ally is anodised. It's well loctited and nylocked. Hopefully it will hold together !

And fitted.

I've decided I'm going to fit another level into the scoop. It will be like a shelf which I going to angle up towards the exhaust port. Rather than just a big volume of air going into the scoop , it will be directed.

Im no expert here Daz but would it not be better to have a 'top' to that scoop so youre not dragging hot air from the pipe onto the head? Is a good suggestion?..... or..... should i just STFU  ... ;)

Hi Andy.

Yes I know what your saying and in theory I would think your correct. But the motor I purchased has been ran in group 4 successfully over 2 seasons with the scoop as is in pic. I've put up another pic to show the scoop that came with the motor. I think that the pipe must be getting cooled as it's up front( before the head) so it's heat disperse must be little ? I 'm only guessing of course. The head must gather cool air with its size. I think the scoops main job is the underside of the cylinder , exhaust port.

The other option I had thought of was to put exhaust heat wrap around the pipe to push the heat through. A lot of car tuners do this mod to get heat from the engine bay.

It'll be fine, we used to run ram air cooling on our group 3's with standard lambretta heads and cast Iron barrels without over heating issues. 60mm bore x 54mm stroke@ 10'000 rpm- No alloy barrels in our day Daz!

Looking good mate, you getting excited now?

Is that "John JAHSPEED Howe`s" handy work Daz....????

Its all looking good, is the ali airscoop designed to be more durable than a fibreglass one, when traveling across rumblestrips onto the grass/gravel....

I`m really looking forward to spectating at Croft, its all coming together nicely since your last visit to croft last august eh fella..... 8-)

Ha ha col. Yeah it should be more durable than the fiberglass version. But yeah it probably will see a few rumble strips. I seen some pics of mikey (on the jb bike ) dragging his fiberglass scoop around the track. Just didn't want this to happen.

The pipe is john Howe 's I haven't recieved it yet. I'm sure you'll agree it looks a work of art. I'd already set john away making this pipe before the motor I now have became available.
