IOW 2014

Just a few thoughts regarding this years iow rally. Having had a good and dry ride down from the midlands with friends on friday morning we looked forward to the weekend ,and having been to the iow rally for a fair few years we wondered what the new set up would be like.Great to see sooo many scooterists ,mods etc ,never fails to amaze. so we ventured down to the campsite on sat morning ,my 1st impression was um - too small. having walked around the ,very good, parts and clothing stalls i wondered where the evening entertainment would be , i knew that there wasnt much going on at the ryde castle having rode past the prevous nite all looked quite....and staying in a house nearby confirmed this eeerily quite.This is ryde castle bank holiday sat nite scooter weekend ,prevous years the walls wouldve been shaking!. Luckily we wandered round ryde and found a very non discript looking pub full of the real old school rally people,a late great night.As i woke on sunday ,with major lance still ringing in my ears, we thought maybe it has all changed and small brook would now be the rally hub. so helmets back on after a good old full english breakfast and tea for our own island ride which turned out to be a real blast. so sunday nite was spent at the same pub BUT the dj,s had changed, it was a frigging belter! rare northern soul ,quality ska and a good old splash of 80s modern.So all in all a good weekend BUT not sure about it all being at small brook , what happened to hipshaker at the castle?.....and we got lucky sunshine all weekend.cheers.
