LI Series 2 Frame Loop

Hi Guys, I have just had my frame back from the blasters and it has opened a few more wounds, there is a lot of peppering through the top of the frame loop and the inside of the tool box aperture, also dents on the top.
What is the best or the cheapest way to rectify, a new GRP frame loop as a steel replacement I know is rare, or fill the holes will filler (bodge up).
The frame itself is excellent. Any advice much appreciated.

Andy

Out of stock and not cheap but maybe an option.

There are loads of good tinsmiths around. I would just pay a man to fix it.

Personally I wouldn't consider grp.

Try a local body shop maybe some one who deals with old cars there's not a lot that can't be repaired especially body wise

If you cannot obtain a used hoop you could always consider brazing the rusty areas. I wouldn't attempt Mig or Tig welding as it will just blow the thin metal away.

If you use a large nozzle propane roofing torch you could use lead to 'lead load' the holes or
oxy acetylene to braze with brass . Either way will build up a non ferrous layer which is rust free and easy to skim. ;)

The worst area is inside the tool box aperture, it has completely rotted away and would need refabricacting. If I decide to change the frame loop what is the best procedure for removal.
