Hi chaps,
I need to replace the kick start of my Indian gp150 (Vijaii MKI) ...Scoot restos are out of stock but Camb Lamb and Beedspeed have chrome kick starts for around £26 .I need one not too expensive but not made of cheese.
Any suggestions please,
Thanks,
Grandpa

I have not used one but have been told on good authority that Buzz Solomoto sells good ones.

I've got scootRs ones on my bikes - found them very good in fit, shape and general quality.
Lucky enough to pick a good 2nd hand one up on ebay a couple of weeks ago at a good price for a spare.

Hi Chaps,
Just an update.Phoned Buzz but they had no GP kickstarts in stock only series 3 which they could not recommend as I do not have the adjustable ramp on my GP.
Have fitted ,today, an Indian kickstart(chrome) ordered from Cam Lam which fitted ok.
Thank you for your input

being the klutz I am, I've no idea what the 'ramp' bit refers to. has anyone got a pic to illustrate please?

Hi Andy,
see page 68 Stick's second edition.
When you press down on the kick start a plunger with teeth engages with first gear to turn engine over. This plunger rides on a ramp that engages with first gear as you press down and is disengaged when kick start is at normal. On a series 3 the ramp is bolted to chain case cover and is adjustable so that the plunger teeth engage as soon as possible and on a GP the ramp is on gear box end plate and is non adjustable. An adult will come along shortly and tell us the pros and cons of the different set ups

On an Li yes. THe GP has a loop cast in to the endplate to perform this function.
I'm not sure I understand that would make a difference as to which k/s lever you would use though?

I've used the same kickstart pedal on a series 3 Li with a ramp and on a 200 engine with a GP endplate.

Hi Rossclark,
The helpful parts guy at Buzzsolomoto implied that the splines in the kick start may be in a different position. One spline out and it makes a huge difference.I tried fitting the kickstart one spline anti clockwise( than normal) and I had almost immediate engagement of the plunger for better kickstart action ...but... I had the plunger chattering.
At the end of the day I value their advice as they have far more experience.
