strange question on rust

Im doing a rusteration on my spanish winter model....but have a new replacement rear running board ,ive managed to spray it so it sort of looks right ,just need to make the bear metal rust quickly.......anyone got any tips to speed up the rust process ?

Vehicles near the sea or simply that have endured too many ‘gritted’ winter roads will rust quicker due to the salt.

Spray on salty water, then dry. Repeat a few times. You'd be amazed by how quickly deck equipment on seagoing vessels ages.

bare metal will soon oxidise and give a fine rust coat, just let nature take its course, that's a true rustoration as opposed to making something a rustoration

Your request seemed absolutely reasonable just as I’d like to think a few responses to it were reasonable answers.

I hope it works for you but the point I’m making is that there seems to be a habit with some on this Forum acting like that character that Harry Enfield portrayed…..

If you use an acid solution; such as Alloy Wheel Cleaner, this will dramatically increase the rust process afterwards....

Maybe a replaced footboard (however obvious) would imply originality?
