S3 panel handles

I'm not familiar with S3 panels as it's years since I've used anything other than clip on panels. I've got some S3 Li panels and some remade panel handles, the later type with the Black block rather than the White round wheels [which I preferred] but these handle seem too long, the shaft that goes through the panels seem about 10 / 15mm too long but there's nothing except a fibre washer between the lever and the Black plastic hook. Is there something missing, ie a spring or spacer as they can't work as they are now. The Black blocks are fitted the right way around as if fitted the other way around the gap would jump to about 40mm.

The correct order is handle/nylon washer/side panel/bracket with secure pin.

Food for thought,is the side panel spring original or not?
It could be the problem if it is longer.

I’ve used similar, but genuine, later type on my SX but I’ll have a look later to see if there is a difference in the length from the outside to the inside faces of the two types of ‘handle’ panel & report back…..

Hmmm. Both sets of handle panels that I have are 40 mm from face to face.

They are both of the late type with no reinforcement tube yet one SX 200 set came into my possession on a TV with the roller type handles….I’ll worry about that some other time.

However, the earliest handle panels were much less than 40 mm face to face, which is what you may have.

Sorry I can’t help you more.

the size of the roller has a big effect to the fit, some of the remade ones are too small a diameter and the handle ends up in the wrong place visually and slightly loose , I am sure innocenti's cost reduction cheapo plastic replacement is also rather hit and miss remade. Plus most of them have been banged at the back or stood on the tail in the van from Italy as imports.
Early panels have a steel tube with loose rollers and screw on handles and a metal wave washer, the non tube type have plastic hooks cast on handles and a nylon washer,
I tend to use the early handles on both type of panels with the nylon washer as it is kinder to paint as it has more positive feel when right.
