Evening, has anyone used on of these Jockey's Boxenstop headlights?

I'm running a Casatronic ignition and the lights are terrible compared to my old Indian electronic set-up

I've been looking at using an LED (SMD) headlight bulb which draws far less power that a halogen bulb but was wondering what bulb type the Jockey's light uses to see what the LED options are.
Also, what is the beam pattern like? It looks very much like my wife's 2012 PX disk headlight and the beam pattern on that in Dip is shocking!

Beam pattern is ok and certainly much better than the original light. The reflector is plastic though so not sure how well it would handle really hot LEDS. Casatronic, and all the other 4-pole electronics based on the IDM stator all have poor lights. An LED rear bulb helps the front light brightness at low revs.

I have been running an HID lamp in a Jockey's headlight unit (H$ fitting) for over a year now and the light output is fantastic. I have been looking at the new LED offerings and was tempted but although they use less current for a higher light output than a tungsten lamp they still use more than an HID and aren't a bright. There is a video on U Tube comparing all 3 fitted to the same vehicle and the HID is noticeably brighter and has a better spread of light than the LED but both were a LOT better than the tungsten. As Sticky says, the LED's run hot and they all have cooling mechanisms built in, some use a tiny electric fan and others use heat sinks. I would be concerned as to how a small fan would cope with the vibration it would get in a Lambretta

So just to clarify, the Jockey's headlamp takes a H4 bulb?

I've not used HID but I have tried the following.

Original headlight with 12v conversion......better than 6v but still rubbish.

Next. H4 conversion with Osram night breaker bulb in original headlight. Much better.

Next. Jockey's headlight unit with 34w bulb as supplied. Best of all, even with the 35w bulb as it is a modern headlight with a much improved reflector & lens over standard.

I did enquire about fitting a larger watt bulb in the Jockey's. Although the response was not don't I was advised that it was not recommended with the plastic lens.

I have the Jockeys headlamp on my Li 150 Special, with BGM stator, great headlamp!
Lights were improved when BGM Stator fitted, Jockeys headlamp made a further improvement.

The Jockeys is an H4 fitting as I said in my previous post. There is NO issue with heat with an HID, they run cooler than the 35 watt Halogen supplied.
