Sure I have seen somwhere details of torque setting and correct order to tighten chaincase nuts, thought I would do it right this time rather than wrythe them up to within an inch of their lives like I normally do

Hi Bob,
Looking at Sticky's book I see that most nuts and bolts tightened into alloy like stator plate bolts and Mag housing are at 3.5-3.8 LBS-FT or 4.7-5.2 NM.Tighten in a criss-cross manner. You only have to have it tight enough for kick starting and to stop oil leaking.
