AC or DC - ignition system

Hi, my scoot has developed a nasty habit of losing power at (relatively) high revs/speed. Having checked petrol flow/cleaned carb etc (and this site) I've deduced that I have a stator issue rather than a carb one. All well and good, however when I went on to the Scootronics site to buy a new stator I'm faced with the choice of AC or DC... and for the life of me I havent a clue.
It's a standard 1969/70 DL200 (no battery) which had an upgrade from points in the early 1990s. I am presuming it's Vespa based as the regulator and (blue) ignition units look the same as a PX.
Looking in various manuals a standard DL appears to be DC, but a quick look in my Haynes PX manual says the PX is AC. My gut instinct is it's AC but really not sure.
Thanks

Hiya, you are right it should be AC as it has no battery. I think majority of manuals from the UK will presume it is a GP which invariably had batteries to comply with the law at the time (at least that is what my memory tells me, so could no doubt be wrong lol)
