Stupid question time or is it, does a fast flow petrol tap use more fuel than a standard one? My assumption it doesn't as the float would regulate how much fuel went through..or have i got that wrong.

Tried a number of standard OMG taps lately & none met the 250ml a minute mark going by Sticky manual with regards to fuel flow, on reserve it is showing ok with fuel flow but i don't like to put onto reserve & actually keep it for reserve.

If your engine could consume 250mL of fuel per minute, then it would empty a full tank in under 30 minutes!
If your steed is a standard carb/ engine combination then a lower flow rate is perfectly acceptable.
A higher flow rate is needed with tuned engines using big bore carbs to ensure the float chamber doesn't run dry when giving it the beans.
I've had this problem before with so called fast flow taps and found it necessary to bore out the holes in the tap to get the maximum rate of flow. This included swapping out the inlet tube on the tap for one that has a bigger bore. You can acquire this brass tube from modelling shops.
Beware with some taps...... the internal rubber gasket on some is completely unsuitable for use with our modern alchyfuel. The fuel causes the rubber to expand and go "jelly like" which also causes restrictions in the fuel flow.

Thanks, it's running the fuel into a measuring jug giving the said amount in a minute. It's a bog standard GP150 that i'm having issues with other than new rings & a thinner head gasket (squish was measured) ran this previously with no issues, nipped up a few times since running rings in & opening her up, started first kick each time after nipping up which normaly would not happen as spit back into air hose usually floods carb if i don't turn fuel off for a short while then ignition so assuming fuel starvation. Getting 230ml into a jug on normal setting but 250ml per min on reserve, ran today opened her up on main roads with petrol tap to reserve setting with no issues.

Got a Scootopia fast flow one not used a few year old 300ml per min on normal & reserve, heard some had issues with these but they are selling an updated version so may get one of those.

I've never been happy with Scootopia fuel taps tbh.
