Good evening.
My ‘63 TV175 has a spongy wobble on the front wheel when cornering at very low speed. I’ve visually checked the front end, haven’t dismantled anything yet.
You don’t feel it as much through the handlebars, (the handlebars don’t shimmy or shake) but feel it through the front end body. Any ideas please.

Front hub halves not sufficiently tight. Tighten the nut on the inside of the fork link (hub still fitted to forks), then tighten the outer spindle dome nuts again.

If not what Adam suggests above, which was my first thought, it’s an easy check on whether your forks have come loose.

Push the scooter off the stand and then push the scooter forward whilst pulling on the front brake lever. At the same time, put your left index finger on the join between headset bottom and legshields. If the forks are loose, you can feel the headset separating from the legshields slightly.

Have you put your stand up on bricks and pushed the wheel to watch whether it runs true and whether the tyre is fitted correctly to the rim?

Had a similar problem a couple of years ago- turned out to be a loose steering clamp. Three new nylocs , a good tighten and all good. Hope you get it sorted chap. Paul

Out of interest, how tight is tight with the hub nuts? Nipped, FT or? Sorry to appear thick but I want to do it right.
Without issues or overloading bearings.

You don't want to burst blood vessels doing them up but I have read a text suggesting that you want to do them in the forks as you typically can't do them tight enough on the bench.

Inner nuts nip up & loosen a tad, same as on a push bike, to tight will grind the bearings
