Is there an easy way to get a throttle return spring on. I have got to point saying I've managed for years without one but at least I tried

I have the above mentioned dscscotty but trying to get the spring into the hole in the rod is a blooming nightmare. You have to somehow try and get the spring end in which faces opposite way and not being the most patient person is awkward to say the least. Deep breaths count to ten

Personally, I find it as easy to make my own from a conventional tension spring that will fit the rod & shape the ends to suit. With a drilled hole through the rod, I use the eye of a split pin to act as the 'anchor' then fit the assembly (pre-wound) without the pulley to achieve some tension. Then fit the pulley (usually a gear change pulley with larger carbs)

In other words, fit the spring & rod assembly without the pulley. Wind in some tension. Then fit the pulley.

Self closing throttles are mandatory for competition use but make it impossible to do a right turn handsignal I strive to keep my throttle from self closing, usually by wrapping an elastic band into the gap between the grip. Not a problem I guess if you dont use hand signals

Innocenti didn't fi self closing assist springs but the Spanish did on their scooters fitted with indicators.

Especially when you're going uphill and you want turn right,the throttle shuts off as soon as you take your hand off and put your right arm out.

You can have a self closing throttle that is set up with good carburation to include a tick over, even with a very light flywheel
