Carb manifold rubber touching frame

Quick one of anyone’s not out enjoying the sunshine this afternoon!

I have just fitted offset cones and a 300mm S3 shock to my S2 in order to make room for the 30mm carb manifold on my Gt kit. This has worked, however the carb rubber is pretty tight against the frame.

Will this cause problems or is that just how it is? I can’t see how I can make any more room.

Many thanks :D

It will cause problems down the line I’d imagine :|

Not all carb' manifolds are the same, some have different angles and length (shorter/longer), likewise some rubber connectors are longer/shorter, different thicknesses. You may have a poor combination with your set up.

The one I have is a Cam Lam one, it’s nearly 9mm thick! It’s like car radiator pipe. Anybody know if there’s a decent quality thinner one? Or can I use anything? I have a couple of old (dare I say it) flexible Harley Davidson inker manifolds made of silicone around somewhere that are about the right size but thinner. Not sure if there’s a reason this one is so thick... it has Lambretta stamped on it!

Disco Dez scooters have gt manifolds and rubbers.

Both right sided and left sided GT manifolds lie pretty close to the barrel. I suspect, as has been said, buying the correct manifold for the kit, will resolve your clearance issues.

Thanks, it is the GT 30mm Dellorto manifold as supplied by Gran Turismo/Disco Dez.... so I would hope it’s correct. I bought it with the kit. I’ve just seen that Lambretta upgrades have a fairly slim looking rubber along with 2mm head packers which I think I’m also going to need due to squish issues. I’ll order one and see, the thick thing from Cam Lam is just too massive to fit right...

I run an Avanti in my Li. You'd struggle to get a cig paper between the cowl and the frame it's that close. This was with off-set cones and a 295 shocker. I put the exact same engine in an Indian gp and there was at least 10mm clearance. The 3 other lads with Avanti's all have good clearance as well. This makes me think the frame engine mounts are not all that accurate and vary from frame to frame. With standard engine's it's not an issue but when fitting kits and bigger manifolds it becomes a major factor. No ones fault and various options to remedy it.....
