Such as this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lambretta-Fr ... SwDQJZtlNF

Is it worth while fitting one as part of a restoration?

I wouldn't have thought so. I have had and seen many Lambrettas but never seen a problem around the mounts. I'm sure someone will have had problems. Not me though.

That’s actually Jon Betts selling who makes lots of good stuff for Lambretta. I’ve had the engine mount strengthened on 2 of mine. Putting more powerful engines in these old frames takes it toll. I had my frame split on the German Euro and had to get it welded up at Worb5. I’m not the only one. If you are going anything more than standard it makes sense to do it. Whether or not that piece is good value or not is your decision.

Later Spanish frames had them from standard.

Serveta would never have gone to the expense of doing this unless they were seeing problems of a certain percentage.
Add in our "modern 300% + power increases".
Add in our "pot holed ridden roads".
Add in " Driven by miserable old overweight fat bastards".

Enough said me thinks.

May be a gusset made from 12mm plate would just as good.

In the seventies/eighties roads in rural Spain were as bad if not worse than ours are now.
Probably why they added the strengthening gusset.

I have one on the sidecar scooter because of the extra stress on the engine mounting but not one on the solo.

Cheers everyone, think I might as well just do it while it’s all stripped. Worst case i’ll guet no benifit from it.

For what little is involved, it has to be a worthwhile modification.

Serveta would have done it for good reason, much like Marks & Sparks with their range of underwear.....
