Thicker gear shim ?

Hi, I've posted on here earlier today regarding a rattling gearbox & the fact that I've given up trying to solve it ! but,i just had another thought, would it be worth trying a thicker 1st gear shim, currently have a 2.2mm one in there , which was in the spec of feeler gauge recommendation,so was thinking of trying a 2.4mm to see if this would maybe tighten things up a little more & hopefully stop the rattling  , any info would be great before I pull the engine apart again ;)

Hi, I've checked the chain tension again & set it again to 6mm up & down movement, that was after measuring it in several different places because of the "tight spots" you get when you rotate the chain, there is a little slack on the bottom run of the chain (pull down tensioner & no bottom guide) but info regarding this states once power is applied to the engine this lower chain slack is taken up, as I've stated in my previous post it doesn't seem to be causing any problems, it's just annoying

I've had gearboxes with bigger tolerances than that when pre-measured before strip down and they weren't noisy. Can't see shimming up eliminating noise.
