Long range fuel tank options.

Engine case cleaning options

Current top end kit overviews

Just thought to point out that HID lamp conversions are illegal on vehicles without self leveling headlights or self leveling suspension.

That rule doesn't apply to motorcycles ;)

The tools are in there at the front - for spares - where does it end? :)

You might start by telling novices which is the petrol tap, which way to turn it to turn the petrol on and how far to turn it for normal flow and reserve flow. Also which is the choke lever and how far to turn that. The number of people that dont know is quite alarming.

That sound more like an owner's manual than a technical guide.

Hello Sticky.
Would it be possible to include a copy of the technical drawings of the frame with the measurements on.
Thanks Phil.

This does sound like it's getting 'war & peace' sized but I'm with the earlier suggestion of a Luna chapter. There is little / no printed info I could find & they do have many oddities whereby experience of bigger lammies means very little.

Maybe you could streamline the engine section a little? It's always struck me that probably very few people actually build a standard engine. So perhaps we could just have a single section and take it as a given that people will use improved chain guides, while a sporty clutch is essentially the same as a standard. Just saying. :D

Blimey, we had better all comply now FnF has reminded twice about the law. Standby for some reminders on the finer points of the Highway Code.

Is it Fast an Furious, or Sedate and Compliant?

That would make the Jocky's unit illegal as well if taken to the nth degree but it's only the dft's interpretation of the law as stated at the end and NO mention is made of motorcycles. I asked my guy about it and he had not received any instruction on HIDs and remarked that the beam was amazing ;)

There is much more that can be added to the manual such as
exploded diagrams,
cabling routes, diagrams and pictures.
pictures of all the various models from all angles and various states of rebuild
common modifications and modern replacement parts.
Judging by the amount of electrical questions on the forums, there is a need for is a more comprehensive electrical section, covering basic through to modifications.
Including all of the above might end up with something that covers every eventuality but hard to use ( Unfortunatly this has happened to many great reference and texbooks)
Instead of including them in the book, could they be added as online references or a CD/memory stick/downloadable code to keep the manual size down?
As for a readers wives section, Can you include a comprehensive section on cold starting older models,

Can we stop now, or there won't be a single subject left for me to write about in future Oily Rag articles?

In the next few months we are going to be updating the Complete Spanners Manual for Lambretta and I'm looking for your suggestions on stuff I should change or add.

1. Are there any corrections that you've noticed I should fix?
2. Is there anything you'd suggest that we can add as a section?
3. Are there any newly-developed parts that you think we should cover?
4. Do you know any new techniques that we should add?

All suggestions welcome

Ha Ha........ Sedate and Compliant? Nah....... More like "Alive and still kickin'" . The legalities are only half the issue anyway.
Lambretta's don't need this this kind of lighting. There are ways and means to make the headlight work so much better without the need for any radical changes that could attract negative attention and comprimise your insurance credibility.
From a technical standpoint........
A) HID's run very hot...... Not good in the confind space of a scooter headset with all those plastic bits, like wiring and digital speedo's!
B) Most Lammy's haven't got sufficient generator power to sustain this level of electrical demand, especially when tootling around in urban areas.
C) Using a whiter light is not as effective as improving the reflective projection of the available light. Lamm'y headlamps have really poor quality reflectors. That is what needs to be changed..... The quality, not the technology. Fortunately, there are some clever folk out there who can take your headlamp, separate the reflector from the glass, re-silver plate the reflector to a modern high standard and send it back to you with the glass reattached.
D) A halogen "sealed beam" unit would ulimately be the answer.
