Cleaning a Stainless steel petrol tank

Hi chaps,

Best way to degrease/clean/remove residue from inside my tank please. Apparently according to Ben at A.F Rayspeed its polishing compound in my stainless tank that's nackered my piston

I use hot water with detergent and shake the tank about then rinse thru with a hosepipe. Leave to drain and dry then add petrol and shake about and empty.
