Happy New Year to you all. Any advice on which cables, I need to change them on a standard TV series 3.

Bgm and CamLam do a copy of the original thicker front disc cable too.

Thanks both, without sounding thick, I see that a set of cables ranges from £27-£45, why?
I’m happy to spend and do the job right, even looked at the original types with false grease nipples for authenticity but is that overkill and waste of money?

It is a sensible question Peter.

A lot depends on how the cables were sourced. If you wanted manufactured to specific tolerances and made in the UK, then you would certainly pay a premium price. I have commissioned the manufacture of control cables in this country and they were brilliant, but expensive. However, you might find that you can get decent quality cables manufactured in India or China and obviously it would be cheaper.

I doubt if retailers are buying-in cable sets from suppliers and then bumping the price up to £45 to make a profit because they just wouldn’t sell them at that price. There must be a reason. Cables can vary in the quality of the ferrules used on the outer, the weave of the inner cables, the nylon lining (or not) and the addition of false grease nipples. Even the colour of the outer can be a factor.

So I haven’t got a definitive answer for you, but it might explain why some cables sets are more expensive than others.
