Exhaust paint

Postby gaz_powell » Fri Sep 19, 2025 7:58 am

Went by my mild steel taffspeed pipe for C2C, brushed it up and coated with PJ1 exhaust paint and its flaking on manifold after one run out.. What have people found to be the best?? I cant arsed dropping exhaust and repainting after every run out.

Bike off road now for engine rebuild, so exhaust coming, will get it chemically dipped back to metal and ready to paint.

Ive had chrome and ss for so long now!!

I've used the E-Tech spray from amazon on my BGM clubman. After a few years the exhaust needed welding and the welder complained about how hard it was to get the paint off. I think its good stuff

I also use the E-Tech XHT paint - probably lasts a years worth of riding before it needs doing again. Its the best one I've come accross.

If you are going back to bare metal I'd be tempted to use the specific primer.

If you are considering ceramic coating - then proceed with caution. IMO - its not worth the investment & doesnt last anything like the advertised "fit & forget".

I love nickel plating. But you'll need to make sure it's completely clean before you get it done as the oil etc wrecks the plating solution.

Premier plating in Prudhoe if you can be arsed to drive up. Alternatively, if you're not in a rush, you could get it to me at your convenience and I'll get a price for you.
